Jeffrey Archer was educated in Oxford at Wellington School and Brasenose College, during which time he represented Great Britain as a world-class sprinter. He was elected a member of the House of Commons representing Louth in 1969, becoming its youngest member. He stepped down from his post in 1974 with financial troubles brought about by failed investments.
