Not a incredibly great book, but alright. It felt like a first book from a new author. The plot was pretty weak in places, particularly the anticlimactic ending. Definitely the strongest part that made reading it worthwhile was was the main character, who was deep and interesting. Also the interaction she has with the city guard and how that develops and twists in the story. This is a good library/borrow from a friend read, but is probably not worth buying. I'm definitely interested in the squeals, and hopefully the problems will be ironed out in the later books.
