Nothing get's the blood of your average protestant or catholic flowing more than to hear the doctrine of predestination. This idea was first pointed out in the 1500's by Jean Calvin. This doctrine put simply implies that God has already fore-chosen those whom would go to Heaven and those whom were destined elsewhere... for whom He knew "from the foundation of the Earth"... This book by R.C. Sproul expands upon those very topics and is a must have should you be interested in polemical or apologetical debate. Whilst the above is written somewhat tongue in cheek the most important aspect of this document is that it reinforces the absolute sovereignty of God in all things. After all if your God is not sovereign then He is not God.
