Biography
Born in Oxford, England, Hawking studied at Oxford and Cambridge, and became Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge in 1979. His work in general relativity has led to a search for a quantum theory of gravity to explain black holes and the Big Bang. Around the time of the publication of his book, "The Large Scale Structure of Space-Time" in 1973, he published his results that black holes could emit particles in the form of thermal radiation, now known as Hawking radiation. Top review for a book by Stephen Hawking
A Reader wrote a review on A Brief History of Time: Updated and Expanded Tenth Anniversary Edition: 10th Anniversary Ed
The best science book I have ever read. Steven Hawking relates the major physical theories in a very simple way. Was very interesting. But still I don't know why he has to fight the fact that God created the universe, it is like he is fighting the concept for itself and not searching for scientific truths. Still, never read a better science book.
