Biography
Maeve Binchy was born in Dublin and was educated at a convent school in Killiney. She earned a history degree from University College, Dublin in 1960 and taught for several years afterwards in various girls' schools in Ireland. Her first publishing experience occurred when "The Irish Times" printed a letter she wrote home from Israel where she was teaching at a kibbutz. Submitted by her father, the letter earned her £18 and exceeded her present weekly salary of £16. From 1969 to 1980, she live more...
