So great in fact that everything since is merely a footnote to what Will accomplished?

Yes, the way he was able to write about the complexities of human condition, he was so ahead of his time

I honestly doubt it. The man wrecklessly made up words of his own that became lexicon in the language likely from his patronage of Queen Elizabeth I. He overly-embellished things as well. To quote him & re-direct it towards him "full of sound & fury."

This doesn't however mean he "signifies nothing." He's just an eccentric man who probably had a staff of lesser writers beneath him & he stole the credit from him so he'd be regarded in history as being this great, immortal "Bard of Avon." Yet if he didn't do this (if he actually did) none of those plays would be readable today.

Basically? He's the Elizabethian version of Bill Gates!
