I loved his dark materials. I loved the pulling down of the stupid god and I didn't find it anti-religious. Any religion that stupid has got it coming and any religion less stupid does not need to worry. Th authors like pullman and the authors he is stated to have liked are many of my favourites so I guess i can't help liking him. Lyra is a great character and so is the boy (his name escapes me). Inspirational withpout being twee.
