It's like an episode of oprah, woman trying to find herself and determine who she is based on her childhood as an immigrants daughter, dealing with her mommy issues and a live in boyfriend with 2 kids who won't marry her. The second half of the book all will love, the deceit, mystery, murder, war, drama of living in old china makes for very interesting and entertaining read. As for the daughter who is the main protagonist in the first half of the book we see of course the predictable resolution of finally know who she is, who her mother is, and how to be happy in a long term marriage-less relationship.   hide
