My sons grew up hearing me perform the lyrical poetry from this fantastic collection. I was delighted to find a later edition that included a CD with the author himself reading and singing a selection of the works.

A completely magical collection! The imagination and wit of Shel Silverstein never ceases to amaze me as he does anything to make kids laugh (and, to my eternal gratitude) educate them. As a teacher, I best appreciate this due to the different ages it reaches. I found myself reading my class one poem only to end if half way do to semi-mature content (come on, it's first grade, they can't hear everything). Shel Silverstein is the Man.   hide

This book got me started on my poetry craze I still haven't grown out of, and probably never will. Great collection of poems in there :)

This is one that I own and will force my children into loving just as much as I do.
