My favorite book as a little girl.

good book.

it was unbelievable. i grew up on a farm and my dad didn't hold off on the butchering because we liked a cow, chicken, or pig.

This was a great childhood book, even though it was quite depressing when Charlotte died. True friendship is defined, beings who go to great lengths for those they care about. This was a great childhood book, even though it was quite depressing when Charlotte died. True friendship is defined, beings who go to great lengths for those they care about. The book gives standards for human beings to strive for, ironically set by farm animals. The detail is exquisite; from the description of the slops fed to Wilbur, to the general atmosphere. I remember reding through the detail many times just to get the same feeling that the characters may have had. It is a fantastic book for children, especially if they need to develop their vocabulary.   hide

But Charlotte's Web is a fable about friendship told properly fable-ish through the voices of animals and a little girl who are thrown together in an effort to keep a pig from certain doom. I don't care what weird opinions you have on talking animals (frankly, I can't stand a lot of them, either). But Charlotte's Web is a fable about friendship told properly fable-ish through the voices of animals and a little girl who are thrown together in an effort to keep a pig from certain doom. Yes, it's cutesy, but it is for children and they love it. The animals all have their separate personalites and I have personally seen adult books that can't have the characterization of these. It's a great, timeless story.   hide

Awwwww...Wilber!

I read this book when I was in primary school. Every Friday afternoon we got to pick a book out of the cupboard which we were allowed to sit quietly and read on our own. I clearly remember this particular book because I had to try to hide my tears as I read about poor Charlottes death. I was really touched and could not stop crying. A beautiful book by any standard!
