Two years ago, this was the most popular book amongst my 6th grade girls. It spawned a series which was equally as popular. I felt a little weird reading it as I'm obviously not one of the book's target audience members, though I read this because of its popularity and to help me figure out the complexities middle school girls. It's a funny read, and is supposedly similar to Bridget Jones. I suppose it might become a movie at some point. As an American, it's especially amusing to read the jargon of british coming-of-age girls.   hide

Probably aimed at an audience that's a bit younger than me, and, let's face it, a bit more female than me, but I did enjoy it. Sort of a female Adrian Mole, and an interesting insight into the female psyche for a male reader like myself. My only real complaint is the slight lack of depth or sense of "anything happening" - it was a fast read and felt a little unsatisying, but I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.   hide

I didn't like how everything was a journal entry it seemed so cliche and boring. It also seemed very immature. It was also really hard to keep up with her lingo considering she is from another country. She did however have a little dictionary in the back to tell you what...more

I have to say I disagree with half of these reviews. Yes It was a funny book and I did laugh, but it wasn't that great to me. An amusing little book; I think I would have enjoyed it much more in high school, or junior high school. It didn't make me yearn to read the ongoing confessions of Georgia Nicolson, and I must say that I prefer in this vein of literature the Adrian Mole Diaries.
