Good fun little read. I like Cabot's young adult literature a little more than her adult stuff because I think her voice is better suited for young adult literature. However, this was a good beach read, and it kept me interested.   hide

I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I've read most of Cabot's teen series and had expected the same depth (almost none) and plot line (some kind of romance). The murder mystery/ suspense story line was a unexpected but appreciated change. Also, the romance was subtle enough to not be irritatingly invasive in the plot. The only issue I had with this book was how Cabot incorporated past events that weren't really explained and wrote references as if the reader would be able to understand. She didn't do this many times but enough for an avid reader and possibe OCD person to notice (f.y.i.: me). Overall, I'd give this book a thumbs up and the go ahead to any one who wants to read it.   hide

This is my first novel that I picked up by Meg Cabot. Overall, it was pretty lighthearted; but still suspenseful at the same time. Heather's character is hilarious at times and other times it almost seems over the top; but, not completely out of range. The novel having a mystery to solve surprised me especially since I was under the impression that Cabot liked writing about things like Princess Diaries and such. I consider this chick literature, for sure; but, with much less frou frou in it.    hide

This is an american book so the size 12 referred to is a UK size 16. This is apparently the size of the average american woman. In his stand-up show Dara O'Briain asks the audience to shout out the two words they associate with people of different nationalities. For americans the answer is always "fat" and "stupid". Everyone in the book is aware that size 12 is a little on the large side though, so I guess at least the author is not that dumb.   hide

This book has some great charm to it and wonderful moments. I think you want more back story into Heather's life but that starts to get covered in the next book! I can't wait to see what the third installment is!   hide
