I honestly think that this is the worst children's book on the face of the planet. This book was directed towards children so I think that it should have had aspects that children love best. It didn't make me laugh or feel happy. In fact, I think that the children who read these kind of books fall into a fantasy world. They don't know the difference when they read this book. Sometimes, it is a good thing but for most kids this book is too abnormally serious.   hide

One of my first favourites - lost count of how many times I read it as a child

I read this in fourth grade and I never quite got into it... mainly because I was more into realistic science fiction than fantasy. But even now as I'm reading more of the fantasy genre, I just don't find myself adoring this book. To each their own.

One of my favorite childhood series - the lion the witch and the wardrobe was the best one, I think.

Anything by C S Lewis is likely worth the read, and this is no different.

You can't compare the german translation with the english original...
