more The story starts off with a chance encounter, which throws chaos into the lives of everyone involved, leading to the tragic end. There are little twists and turns, as the characters evolve, influencing each others' developments. It also serves as a backdrop to the days of WWI, although not much is stated about the war itself. Plot:4 (again, interesting twists, but nothing too attention grabbing until the end); Style: 2.5 (this may be just preference, but I disliked how the story was narrated, with too many random point of view shifts within chapters themselves); Characterization/Development: 4 (the characters are an amusing lot, starting from the simple yet mysterious Eleanor, to the sheltered Rosemary. It's interesting to see how they progress in the story, some more drastically than others); Enjoyment: 3.5.
