What is interesting is that while this lifestyle of drugged-up, subhuman stupor is forced upon the population in the book, many of us in the real world choose this lifestyle, or wish for it, in whole or in part. And ironically, many of those who claim the right to drug themselves and sleep around do it on the basis of "freedom", when in reality the end of their existence is the same type of slavery inflicted upon the majority of the characters in Brave New World.
So what will it be for our society? The order, comfort, and stability of control, as has been sold to us by our politicians for the past 10 or so decades, or the chaos, pain, and fulfillment of freedom?
