Over the years I've been a big fan of the Georgia Nicolson books, but as of Love Is a Many Trousered Thing (or perhaps even Startled By His Furry Shorts), the premise seems to be getting stale. It's more and more difficult to suspend disbelief of the highly unlikely scenarios in which Georgia and the ace gang find themselves, and many of the jokes and funny vocabulary seem to be merely recycled...more

Over the years I've been a big fan of the Georgia Nicolson books, but as of Love Is a Many Trousered Thing (or perhaps even Startled By His Furry Shorts), the premise seems to be getting stale. It's more and more difficult to suspend disbelief of the highly unlikely scenarios in which Georgia and the ace gang find themselves, and many of the jokes and funny vocabulary seem to be merely recycled from the previous books. And who doesn't want Georgia to kick Robbie and Masimo to the kerb already and realise her luuurve for Dave the Laugh once and for all??   hide

I have been a fan of this series from the beginning! The books always make me laugh because Georgia describes things in the funniest ways. She takes British English to a whole new level! Full of hilariosity, this eighth installment further describes the insanity of Georgia's love life. Honestly after the first seven books and waiting a year for this book this was a major disppointment to me. The book has no progression in plot since the end of Startled By My Furry Shorts, the only difference? They add Dave the Laugh into the mix. The book is hillarious, one of the funnier in the series, but this does not make up for the lack of plot progression.

This book was quite good, but I don't think it was as funny as the first 7. Obviously, Georgia has to mature a bit over the years or else the character would be totally false...but that also makes her a bit less random and hilarious.
