This book is so complete and beautiful that even if Marquez hadn't written any extra word after writing this book, he can be rightfully called the most important writer of the last 50 years. Any kind of exaggeration about this book is an understatement, because this book had shown the world that there is a different and engaging way to tell a story. What captures the reader's imagination is the form of the novel that is dense with inter-text, biblical and mythical references, cultural myth's, social taboos, love or lack thereof and more importantly how war changes people opinion about war or rather how it reminds them of humanity.
