Reasonably entertaining tale of misadventures in the kitchen trade - with a lot of sex/drugs/rock and roll in there for the bargain. It does have a lotta foodie-fascism (basically, a lot of the "why aren't you eating non-crap" stuff you get from most professional chefs) but if you can get past that, it's an enjoyable read

Much more interesting than I expected. Broudain is still the first to find the best chefs in the world.

Bourdain's prose colorfully illustrates the NY culinary scene and his life. You won't want to miss his exploits and little lessons such as never ordering fish on Sundays.

Entertaining, and made me reconsider eating fish this Saturday. Reads more like a series of essays than chapters in a book and I sometimes wondered where the hell his editor was as he jumped from story to story with no real regard to organization (and I struggled to remember who certain repeat characters were).

Very personal memoir and look at the frantic world of professioanl cooking. Sometimes shocking, sometimes cozy, always intriguing

Sometimes you find out stuff in books you don't want to know when you go out to eat.

The gristle, sex, drugs and rocking tuna roll behind the scene of your filet au poivre:"I can eat with a knife and fork without embarassing my hosts. But can I really behave? I don't know." Masterfully gritty - I'll never dine out the same again.
