This novel is one of a pretty dated genre...before there was chick lit,there was the light, comic, memoir. MacDonald's story was a bestseller in its day and the basis of a movie starring Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray.
My favorite passages are the ones that describe the bounty of the Pacific Northwest. My least favorite are the racist accounts of local Native Americans.
