I just read this book for the second time. Maybe it was the mood I was in, but in the second reading I found it to be long and drawn out with lots of philosophical babbling about nothing (I normally like philosophical rants; Dostoevsky is one of my favorite authors). The first time I read it, I found it to be very profound and moving, so perhaps the change of opinion was because the ideas were no longer fresh? I'd still recommend it; I think it's definitely a good, worthwhile read, but maybe only one time. I'm actually re-reading this book currently to reference in a paper for my Master's in English. Even during a second reading, I'm astonished at how beautiful and moving it is, while being occasionally hilarious.   hide
