Honestly I was a little disappointed in this book. I am a big fan of Maguire's other books, but this one took me a while to get through. Honestly I was a little disappointed in this book. I am a big fan of Maguire's other books, but this one took me a while to get through. The main character is whiny and I think you are supposed to be sympathetic to her, but I just didn't feel a connection to the characters. The story never did pick up pace, even though I was waiting throughout the entire book for it to do so. The bottom line is, if I had to do it over again, I probably would not have read this book. I guess Gregory Maguire is only good at re-creating old fairy tales.   hide

Not one of his better efforts to say the least, I have to read Wicked again to remind me why I like Gregory Maguire so much.

Compared to the other Maguire books, I just couldn't get into this. I was really excited about reading it, but it just didn't do it for me! Was really disappointed.
