This book was awesome! I could not put it down.

Compelling enough that I couldn't put it down, however the author has a fascination with sex and its related parts that is taken to the extreme on nearly every page. Compelling enough that I couldn't put it down, however the author has a fascination with sex and its related parts that is taken to the extreme on nearly every page. Much of it is extremely unnecessary (a graphic and painful depiction of a girl's first menstrual period, for example), and ultimately disgusting. If even half of the references and descriptions were removed, the book would still be adult enough to satisfy any reader. Despite the minor disgust that I experienced occasionally, the story was very interesting. I loved the details, the depth of the characters, and the way the author was able to move through and around time and space.   hide

McGuire has a twisted way of seeing these old fairytales. I like his dark side and this one has an interesting sexual undertone with the Dwarves. I'm reading Lion amoung Men now and it's interesting how he sets up characters in one book and then alludes to them in another. A good stand alone read.

I got this one from the library and had a hard time getting into it. I returned it (late) having read only about a third of the book. Somday I plan to get back to it.
