If there is a book to encompass every political debate, every relationship, every tiny beautiful moment in nature, this is the one. Best last sentence, hands down.

This is one of the best books I've ever read. Garcia Marquez describes a mythical town somewhere in South America from its beginnings to its end. He specifically follows the lineage of the town's founder, describing their habits, superstitions, and lives. He has a masterful way of making the everyday seem fantastic and the mythical seem everyday. In the course of the story, he...more

Gabriel Garcia Marquez is one of the best Latin American Writers. This is a classic in Magical Realism. The form of thinking and philosophying in South America is highlighted in this book. I absolutely ate this one up!
