A great coming of age book that pits a group of young boys against a group of old men in the early 20th century. Farewell Summer not only bids good-bye to an Indian summer and the magic of childhood, it also says farewell to innocence and our early engendered visions of immortality.

A tale with two conflicting characters representing Bradbury's young-self and his old-self. The two hate each other at first but end up getting along. The symbolism is very deep and thought-provoking. I loved this book

Started slow, but reminded me how it felt to be so in tune with my surroundings at 14 and how hard it was to give up that last bit of childhood.

A bit forced at times -- Dandelion Wine slaked my thirst for nostalgia sufficiently, and I felt that some of this was a bit maudlin. But some amazing surprises, and teary moments for me.
