i hate this book. i didn't care about the characters at all and felt nothing for them. i read about half of this book and just don't care about how it ends. i also have a serious problem with using passive voice when it's not needed. i found myself re-writing each sentence in my head as i read, which took away from the story. it took away so much that i just didn't care...more

I read it when I was in Crete. Ive been to Spinnalonga so I know exactly where most of the story took place. Very moving tale. Would highly recommend it.

i just love it!!!! i went to see the island as well... great and very exciting book!!

This story could have been better written. The theme is awesome and the setting also, but the writing lacks some depth, better language and more relevant and less redundant details. The metaphors and descriptions are cheesy at times, and the characters don't develop sufficently, or rather, they develop in a too simple way. This story could have been better written. The theme is awesome and the setting also, but the writing lacks some depth, better language and more relevant and less redundant details. The metaphors and descriptions are cheesy at times, and the characters don't develop sufficently, or rather, they develop in a too simple way. So many things must be going on in the minds of those people who have been through things unimaginable to us - and that is something the writer should've definately described in more detail.Anyway, it's a nice book, quite fine if you want to relax. Beach literature, nothing too fancy.   hide

Please people, if you haven't read this book yet, you have to, beautiful and warm story

I read it quickly and was entertained enough...but wasn't enthralled. Kind of simplistic and predictable.

Beautiful, warm writing atmosphere.

I liked it. It wasn't groundbreaking, but it was interesting.
