L. J. Smith should have never picked this series back up. The first 4 books had some promise to them. The story line was good, though she moved through some juicy stuff way too quickly for my taste (Damon and Elena). This book was way too cheesy, and the Japanese mythology did NOT mix at all. This installment of The Vampire Diaries started out strange. The writing felt dis-jointed, and I almost had to put it down, however it found it's stride at about the halfway point and I was able to finish it. The first 2 Vampire Diaries books were way better than this one. I mean, how many times can Elena come back to life and how many times can she be thrown into crazy situations with Damon, what...just to test her love for Stefan? I hated the entiire ending and everything with the twins was just so over the top and even slightly confusing. If only this were the last book.
I absolutely loved this book! It started off a little slow, but once it picked up I couldn't put it down! I can't believe how it ended. Just leaving you hanging like that. Now I have to wait until Feb. to read the next one. Im going to go crazy waiting to see what happens!!!
i do not recomend reading this book. the ending to the previous book was a good ending to the whole series. if i knew how this book reads and the story line, i probably would not have read it. the author went totally crazy and unorganized in her writing. it seemed like this was the first book she has written. hopefully the next book will be better.
Honestly, probably the worst series of books I've ever read in my life. There was a seventeen year gap between the last books and this one that recently came out...you'd think her writing might improve a little in that time. It actually seems to have gotten worse.
