The second book of the Abarat series was just as thrilling as the first! Barker (best known as the creator of Hellraiser) writes and illustrates the story of Candy Quackenbush of Chickenville, Minnesota and her adventures in Abarat, a strange land in the Isabella sea where 25 islands exist, each island representing a certain time of day. Written for young adults, I find this series a little scary, not to mention a bit gross. But, it’s a really great story of good vs. evil. Supposedly there will be 5 books in this series – can’t wait for #3!   hide

The first book was amazing... this one is even better!!! The Abarat is an incredible world with characters that you can't help but love. I can't wait to delve into the third book. With such enjoyable writing, it'll be hard to wait. At least I have more of the Barker library to keep me busy in the meantime. What a treat!! Soooooooooooooo good!!!

Just like the first book! Love it! Puts to use your imagination. One young girls adventures into an altered reality.

Even better than the first book! I love it, love it, love it. I can't wait to read the third one. And I hope the sequels keep coming!
