After investing years in the first 12 books, overall a very enjoyable read, this was a big disappointment. Snicket wrote himself into a corner and took a cheater's way out. Most plot points were unresolved and several that were literally were wrapped up with a huge question mark.

This was an interesting end to the series. There are a lot of unanswered questions, but I don't think it would fit in with the rest of the series if everything was explained. While I can't say it was a completely happy ending for the Baudelaires, I think they've reached a happy medium. As a whole, I adored this series. It was intelligent and creative and unique and gloriously dark...more

To be honest, I've only read the first three and jumped to 'The End'. It was quite dull and typical for the series, having Count Olaf chasing them around wherever they go, and he almost always wins in the end of each book, though I have sort of got an idea how each is about. Book thirteen of the Series of Unfortunate Events. At the start of their final adventure, the Baudelaire orphans are lost on a stormy sea, once again in the company of Count Olaf. They are finally blown to shore and hope that they have, at last, found a safe place. Unfortunately, no. While many questions are answered in this finale to the series, many more plot threads are simply left...more

I didn't read the first one, but once I read the 2nd one, I fell in love with the whole series! My favorite book is the 13th. The books are about these orphans that go from home to home and get followed by a very sinister man Count Olaf who plans to kill the children and take their fortune. if you are looking for a happy story, do not read the series!!!!!

I'm a little disappointed in this last of the series, only because I didn't find the answers that I struggled through 13 tedious books to find out! They were all entertaining but the middle set was pretty repetetive. The point is, though, that stories really have no particular beginning and no ending, and no one has all the answers - so I suppose the lesson has been well-taught. A fun...more
