The Magician's Nephew

I loved this book and have continued to love it since the first read when I was very young. It is a beautiful, exciting, whirlwind ride, and was always my favorite chronicle. My copy is so worn and beat up because I would crave it, and then devour it in less than two hours. Sometimes just to visit that wood between worlds.

This was a good book. My advice is not to read this first because it gives a lot of stuff away.

My favorite scene in any book is in this book. I love the scene where Digory finally looks into Aslan's eyes, and he sees huge golden tears in them, and he thinks that Aslan cares for his mother more than he does. My fav out of the Narnia chronicles.

simply the best of the series.

"Alas," said Aslan, shaking his head. "It will. Things always work according to their nature. She has won her heart's desire; she has unwearying strength and endless days like a goddess. But length of days with an evil heart is only length of misery and already she begins to know it. All get what they want; they do not always like it." p. 208

I've never read the entire Chronicles of Narnia series, and I was pleasantly surprised by the first book in the series. Despite the British language that might be a little hard for youngsters to follow, I think it's pretty accessible to kids 4th grade and above, younger if read aloud. The scene of Narnia's creation is my favorite.

I love how this book remind me of Jesus and the truth found in the Bible.Aslan is awesome!
