more I finally read this classic book. I am very happy that I did. One can not say that the ending is a happy one but it also is not really a sad one; not completely at least. The book looks at life in the 1930s in the south. Along the way topics that are looked at are: racial prejudice, social class, sacrifice, sociology, condoned addiction, acceptance. I am sure her novel has softened many willing hearts. Very glad I read it.
