Life in the American south prior to World War II. This is the first of a trilogy of excellent books about the coming of age of Porter Osborne, Jr. the memorable protagonist. His experiences will have you laughing out loud. Take your time and savor Ferrol Sams'(a retired physician) prose. You're going to love this book.

Laugh out loud funny. Ferrol Sams is a great story teller.
