One of the best i´ve read. Steinbeck in his best!!

A great book for farmers, I always think of this book when nature takes over and I realize I'm not in control.

As always, Steinbeck is brilliantly poignant in his naturally understated way.

this is an incredibly ambitious work by steinbeck. i was wholly impressed with the depth of this seemingly simple story. joseph's struggle with his personal beliefs and with those around him culminates into an incredible climactic ending wihch left me stunned and saddened, and quietly appreciative of this work of art. this book reminded me why i love steinbeck so much. i love its blasphemy and heart and the honesty he portrays (as always) in the struggles of the characters to define themselves and those around them.    hide
