Hes is a grate writer and is a very good book and not just for kids

This book is sweet and metaphysical and poetic. And you all should read it.

I love MacDonald. One of my favorite stories of all time is his fable The Day Boy and the Night Girl. He was a great influence on the authors (Lewis, Tolkien) we think of as the fathers of modern fantasy. This book is a more recent application of fairy tale motifs, and it is interesting to view them outside of realm of more familiar fairy tales.

I've loved this book since childhood. George MacDonald (the man C.S. Lewis called his "master") knew better than almost any other author how to take a simple fairy tale or romance and make it a vehicle for deep spiritual truth.
