This one grows on you. It has to -- difficult to read heroine, a raffish cad, a passionate and difficult master, the polite society versus the longing of the heart. A more mature, bittersweet take on romance and realism than Jane Eyre.
I am trying to finish this book.. it's pretty dry and slow moving.. every meticulous detail of Charlotte's life is documented.. a little excruciating at times..
