more initially i was pissed off and confused seeing as the man in the iron mask, the namesake of the book, and all the intrigue of the swap took place in the first third of the book and there was no real mention of it afterwards. when i finished the book i read the introduction and learned that this book was not written as a novel, but is actually a collection of the final chapters of the three musketeers saga.
i really enjoy the way dumas writes - he is excellent at setting a mood and creating charming characters. i definitely recommend this book, but perhaps i would start at the beginning of the saga and not the end of it, as i did.
