I agree with Courtney Zych about it being repetitive. You can never be too bloody, though. I got a lot of flack from my friends for critiquing The Illiad. Yes, it was intended to be sung, and the target audience was familiar with and probably enamored of all the characters repeatedly glorified, even at their pettiest. But as a book, it lacks narrative, which is why the Odyssey is better.

the most detailed depiction of ancient warfare, of thee most glorified battles of all time, the trojan war. charged with the gruesome reality of war, it also deals with the human element of bravery, fear & love; watchout for the subtle humour that homer uses through the 'gods' factor!
