Not as bad as I thought it would be! I actually found myself enjoying some of it, but I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't love classics. It's a bit tough to get through.
Read this for the first time last summer. I wanted to read a book series by Dan Simmons that referenced the Iliad & the Odyssey a lot. Once I got used to the style of writing it became a fun read. I keep a copy in the magazine rack in the half bath. I can see why this story has been around for thousands of years
Another book that can make for difficult reading, simply because the language used isn't what we would use in day-to-day life - it is a classical epic poem, after all. However, it is well worth taking the time to read it.
Reading this I do despair of human nature, we never learn from history and we are apt to repeat it. Only when the average joe in the street wakes up and decides not to be manipulated anymore by evil puppets like Bush and Blair will we stand a chance. Until then I will just keep my fingers crossed.
