This play is especially pertinent to our times. It is about what happens when a man dedicated to spreading an unpopular truth is villified. It brings up many conflicts between free speech, media, and democracy. Even though it isn't set in suburban America, this play is right in line with Miller's interests and strengths, and his adaptation feels fully his.

Miller Ibsen = dramatic powerhouse. An important work in these times.Deftly handled adaption, true to Ibsen's original.

I loved reading this play - I found it extremely powerful and now I really want to see it performed. However, I think it needs to be performed very strong actors, many of them with a commanding presence. I would hate to see a production that fell flat when the writing is so good, but the characters need so much strength behind them to do justice to the writing that I'm almost scared to go...more
