The poor dark sequel to Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. As a child I enjoyed this book far more, although the aliens did disturb me. Having just reread it as a adult I still feel uncomfortable in the sections dealing with the aliens, unfortunately this is a good proportion of the story. It is very short, Willie Wonka is still inspired ecentric genius character and that helps. Overall this book is a good kids story and it might possibly have been my first introduction to Sci Fi to which I've been addicted for 22 years.   hide

This book was a real disappointment. I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to my son, and he could not wait to hear this one. The story was disjointed and completely unsatisfying. I agree with another reviewer in that this book should not have been written.

I don't think this book is worth reading-- especially not after Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It does not even come close to that book's imagination.

My mate pointed out to me the poem in this about the US president, sung by his nurse.. suggest you look for it and see if it reminds you of anyone..?
