The first in a series, this book is more of a teaser to the series than a stand-alone work. The story seems a bit unfocused; half the novel seems to be a romance novel, the other half an exploration of occult - with neither storyline overlapping sufficiently to be cohesive and neither satisfactorily resolved. While generally painting a positive picture of Wiccan beliefs and practices, at times the novel hints at darker aspects. This creates a general sense of foreboding which while spicing up the story ultimately disappoints the reader with nothing concrete by the end of the novel. It’s an okay read, it could get better or worse as the books progress. I wouldn’t bother picking it up unless you had ready access to the rest of the series.    hide
