The story is very typical Jane Austen. There's always the big reveal -- each puzzle falling into place before the principal characters come together. Ohhh...but the most memorable part of the book is Captain Wentworth's letter to Anne Elliot. If for that letter alone, I'll overlook the somewhat rush rush storytelling done to wrap up the story. In spite of that, it is still an enjoyable read. After all, this is a Jane Austen novel we are talking about.   hide

I think I could honestly say that this is my favorite book of all time. It is an amazing story of love and passion. The ending is the best and gives me goose bumps just thinking about it. Highly recommend that you read this one.   hide

I enjoyed reading about the maneuvering about and scheming involved in British society at the time. I also enjoyed reading the depths of despair and hope when it comes to love. One of my favorite passages is at the end of Chapter 8 - it encapsulates everything that is the emptiness of a former love that is gone: "His cold politeness, his ceremonious grace, were worse than anything." The other is in Chapter 23 -Captain Wentworth's letter to Anne expressing his love that never died in spite of how she hurt him by breaking off the engagement.   hide
