Mansfield Park (Penguin Classics)

Super classic

This book was better than I thought it would be. It is scandalously different from the movie; Jane Austen would HATE the movie. It's a bit long and not as captivating as Pride and Prejudice or Persuasion, but it is still good and definitely worth reading.

good book but terrible ending!

This book will keep you on your toes - it's so busy and involved! Jane clearly had some messages to impart to the people with this novel. The central themes of morality and the classes were in continual opposites and fluctuations. I don't want to say too much, other than this isn't your usual Austen novel, but it's very compelling nonetheless.

Probably the most under-rated Austen novel. I really enjoyed it. You have to be able to overlook the cousins getting married. It was standard back then for first cousins to marry each other. I found myself really wishing things had worked out differently with Henry Crawford. I thought Fanny had truly changed him, but he ended up reverting back to the same ol' jerk he always was. WARNING: 1999 movie adaptation is not worth the time. Love scenes and nudity are NOT in Austen's novels and should not be in the movie adaptations! What would Jane Austen think? This was harder for me to get into...I'm not sure why, but once I was into it, I really enjoyed it!
