Secret Life Of Bees A Novel

An excellent book about a young girl's loneliness, the death of her mother and the rejection of her father. She gains love and encouragement from women who change her life.

I found this story in the middle of a compilation book, so didnt know what to expect. I loved it and then recommended it to a friend who went out and bought the DVD which has an amazing cast. This book just brought alive the feeling of prejudice in America at the time - i would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone.

I loved this book. It was so true to the time period and yet the characters rose above the time, place and attitudes to create a sisterhood of friends. The characters redefine what is family and who you can and can't love.
