Really great depiction of a classic example of a total war between two superpowers. Filled with maps, battles, great orators, and all that good stuff.

A must read! Examines, among other things, the perils of empire, the (certain) weaknesses of democracy, conservative vs. liberal regimes...I could go on and on. In short, any student of politics or history should pick this up.

Kagan is very understandable and does complete and in depth study of the Peloponnesian War from beginning to end.

Excellent history, even if it is written by a filthy neo-con.

Didn't read this edition, but the book is phenomenal. Thucydides is, in my opinion the greatest Greek historian and the first good historian, Blows Herodotus out of the water with his descriptions of battles and Speeches and his ability to see the biases of both sides of the conflict.
