This is a nice story to read around Christmas time, albeit very predictable. Centers around the people of Mitford, a small town community. But, specifically around Preacher Tim and his wife Cynthia. There is nothing "Earth Shattering" nor will you discover any new "Truths" from reading this novel, but its a good way to get you into the Christmas Spirit. Just one more thing, Jan Karon has written numerous novels about the small town of Mitford. Does this novel speak enough to me to make me want to read more of her works, I say a resounding "NO"!   hide

I love all the Mitford Books - I especially like to read or listen to this one during the Christmas season.

Makes me realize the simple homemade gifts that has my heart and time put into it is what Christmas is really about - the sacrifice that is what Jesus modeled is what it is about - not commercialization.

The whole Mitford series is wonderful but I especially enjoyed visiting Mitford during the holidays!
