I feel like the characters in this book are a reincarnation of all of Sarah Dessen's previous characters. There's nothing new or fresh. They all smoke, suck at school, and have (for whatever reason) only one friend apiece, which to me is kind of odd. I also think the character's reactions in this book were a bit off; you'd think the parents would have gotten mad at least once at the runaway...more

i liked the book but i hated how in the entire book, she knew she had to save herself but didnt. i understand that when your abused, you see yourself as worthless and wont help get yourself out but ALL the way through the book, people saved her. I thought this was gonna be a book about saving yourself and realizing that you dont deserve that kind of bullshit. not letting the neighbor, the mom,...more

This is one of Dessen's most serious novels. The main character is ectremmely easy to like and at the same time you question her actions but righht away pull back because her situation is beyond easy to control. After reading this book you get a taste of what Dessen is capable of and I hope see will one day write another book that deals with the sometimes intense situations teens go through.

This was such a good book. it was really realistic. i know a girl who was in exactly the same postion and I felt like I was reading a version of her diaries. I cried through most of it. I would definitely recommend this book. Actually, I would recommend most of Sarah Dessen's Novels.
