The Grapes of Wrath

the best writing both compassionate and caring

I was forced to read this for school and was one of the only ones in my class that didn't spark-note any of it. I despise this book. I hate books with all this symbolism junk - why not just write it normal? Definitely would not recommed for high schoolers - we simply do not appreciate it.

Great story, slow going at first. End was bizarre!

This is one of my all-time favorite books. I love most of Steinbeck's work and this is one of his best. The story of the Joad family is not an easy read and if you love endings where all is sunshine and puppy dogs then you will be disappointed. This is real, gritty stuff. Wonderful.
