I grew up with this book. I used to watch the TV serial on DD as a child..i read this book twice..once as growing up and once as grown up(just the age:P)...the simple yet profoundmeaning within each story has captivated my thought...my understanding of life.. i truly love this creation of r.k.narayan..
nostalgia has never been this good...somehow the story and the setting still remains in my head over all these years...and boy!..the kannada adaptation by anant nag and manjunath (chamy) has to be one of the best i've seen..goosebumps every single time!!! .anyone not seen it yet? u're missing something..
The charm and beauty and simplicity of a small town of Malgudi.
Almost every middle class indian kid born and brought up in the 80s sure knows many stories ( and the "tune" thanks to an amazingly well done TV adaptation )
My first Narayan was 'The English Teacher'. It was a mere coincidence that my tuition kid had to do this book for his IB Language Arts Program later on. Hence, we (meaning I) had to do a detailed analysis of the book.
