I love Fleming's short stories as these are the tales he uses to highlight his observations of humanity and love, things you don't see in the regular novels. It's an interesting change of pace to see Bond take a backseat to other's stories, such as in "Quantum of Solace" and "Octopussy." "Quantum" is perhaps my favorite short as it contains, in my opinion, one of the most astounding observations...

It's an interesting change of pace to see Bond take a backseat to other's stories, such as in "Quantum of Solace" and "Octopussy." "Quantum" is perhaps my favorite short as it contains, in my opinion, one of the most astounding observations about a relationship. (FYI, the movie, although great, has nearly nothing to do with the story.) The other stories are thrillers, such as "Risico," where Bond helps bust a drug ring in Rome. "The Hildebrand Rarity," despite having a bizarre title, provides some wonderful characterization for Bond, fleshing him out in our minds. Definitely a great read.
