I apparently missed his books as I grew up, and I picked up this volume for bedtime stories to the kids after seeing it quoted along with several other wonderfully famous stories by great authors. Five children find a magical library book in this story, and each makes a wish for an adventure on a different day. My favorite adventure was the one instigated by their fiesty old granny, who happened to pick up the book and carry them all away to the pioneer days of her youth, where they saw for the first time and were saved by their long-dead grandfather. The book was overall moderately interesting, but not riveting.
